About Juliana

My name is Juliana and I am 14 years old and I’m in the 9th grade.  I am currently on the Deans List at my high school and have a 3.7 GPA.  My hobbies include riding and racing motorcycles, working out, cooking and baking, playing video games and hanging out with my friends.

I started riding motorcycles when I was 5 years old and started racing them in 2019 when I was 9 years old. I won a championship my first year racing and placed 2nd in two more local championships right behind my brother. I was given the ”Girls Are Awesome!” award by Rocky Mountain Mini Moto, a series in Denver, CO. I was the 1st girl ever to podium in their series! I found myself to be a female role model almost immediately for other young female riders and I was very proud of that!

In 2020, I won 3 more championships in RMMM series and I pushed myself in the MotoAmerica FIM Ohvale Mini Cup Series placing 12th overall. I also rode on a big track for the first time but not yet in a race, just practice!

In 2021, I learned more, met more racers like me and evolved more in the sport. I was featured in the Roadracing World Motorcycle Magazine on the kid’s page and that was very exciting for me! I was also interviewed several times by the MotoAmerica media which was televised!

In 2022, I finished 5th in the MotoAmerica FIM Ohvale MiniCup 190 class and 10th in the 160 class.  I am growing in the sport, and I enjoyed meeting new friends and racers year over year.

In 2023, I was old enough to start racing on the big tracks! I won 2 more championships riding my novice year with the MRA series on the Moriwaki. I won the Formula Colorado Championship and the Lightweight GP Championship. It was so fun and I loved the speed of the tracks and the people I got to ride with!

This year, 2024 I am excited to race the MotoAmerica Jr. Cup Series racing on the Kawasaki 400.  I’ll be on the same team as my brother and I am looking forward to leaning even more this year from my brother and the other riders. Let’s go!

MRA Race 7: High Plains Raceway

This was the last weekend and the final round of the MRA season. My races went really well. On Friday’s practice, I got to speed right away. My bike was running great, and I felt good too.  I did about half the day’s practice because all was going well.

On Saturday, it was too cold in the morning to go on the track, so I decided to skip the warmup and avoid an unnecessary mistake. In Ultra Lightweight 2X, I had a great launch at the start and held the lead the entire race.  I didn’t have any battles and I had a really good lead, winning the race. In the Lightweight GP, I got another good launch off the start.  This race had a big grid.  I settled into 6th and battled with a buddy most of the race. I would catch up in the corners and he would get me on the back straight!  It made it much more exciting than the previous race.  At the finish, I ended in 6th place.

On Sunday, I had to wait all day for Formula Colorado, which was the last race of the day. I got another great start and led the race to the end.  I think I had a 26 second lead or something but it was fun. Thank you for a great season!

MRA Race 6: High Plains Raceway

It was a good weekend and I placed 1st in Formula Colorado, 2nd in lightweight GP, and 9th in ultra-lightweight 2x. I started in the very back of each race so I would have to pass people. It was a great time and I am looking forward to the next race! See you there!

MRA Race 5: Pueblo Motorsports Park

Thanks to Michael A for helping me this weekend in the pits and on the track and to Bobby for all my suspension needs. Thanks for supporting me on and off the track!

MRA Race 4: High Plains Raceway

This weekend racing with the MRA at HPR was an interesting round. I had some family coming out to support me which added a little extra fun to the trip! Unfortunately, my 2x race was cancelled due to the 4 hour endurance that was going on Saturday.

My Friday track day went great as always, I did notice a bunch more people from out of state came to race the endurance and possibly some sprint races. Practice on Saturday morning went great too! I got my personal best time 2:01:97 for the full course. I had only one race on Saturday which was the lightweight gp. I started 12th on the grid and into the first corner I was already in 6th place. I got passed on the straight (as always) and it put me back into 7th. I couldn’t catch up to the 600, so I finished 7th.
On Sunday practice went well but then I had to wait the entire day to do my last race, Formula Colorado. I started 4th on the line and got the hole shot! Unfortunately, I was having bike issues, so I couldn’t push it, but I was still able to win the race!
Thank you for supporting me this year.  I am having so much fun. I’ll hopefully see you at the next round in Pueblo!

MRA Race 3: High Plains Raceway

This weekend at HPR, racing with the MRA was the most fun I’ve had on a big bike in a while. Entering the weekend I only had the Friday track day to practice, since I’ve never ridden the west course before. Thanks to Bobby from Motorev Suspension, my bike was set up perfectly before the weekend started. After a few test sessions he could pinpoint the issue and fix it.

Saturday practice went smoothly, I got down to the times I wanted to and wasn’t struggling whatsoever. Then came my first race, Lightweight GP. I had an okay start, putting me in 5th place. A few laps in, a rider in front of me crashed putting me into 4th. I kept the position for most of the race. In the 7th lap, I was passed by a 600 and couldn’t catch up again. It was really frustrating knowing that I could have ended 4th, but overall it was a good race. Race 2 was the Ultralight weight class, I was in the second wave and I got the hole shot. I continued my lead, passing people from the first wave. Then someone from wave one passed me back. I was chasing him the entire race looking for some fun. Up until the last lap, he got stuck in a little traffic in turn 8 and I was able to make a clean pass. I got 1st in my class and 3rd overall!

Going into Sunday, practice was alright. In the first practice, there was a red flag that did not allow me to get into my groove. In the second practice, I was able to get close to my best time. I waited the entire day to do my only race. When I got lined up, I knew I had one competitor, a buddy of mine. Off the line I thought I had the whole shot, but nope. My buddy was also looking at the first place medal! I stayed behind him for quite a few laps before I got a better drive out into turn 1 and took first place. I held it trying as hard as I could to go faster, knowing he was right behind me the whole time. He showed me a wheel a few times but he couldn’t pass me. The last lap came around and I was trying super hard to keep my lead. Going into turn 6, I had a defensive line trying, ruining my drive coming out. He was able to get by me going into turn 7. If I wanted to pass him back it had to be on the front straight. I tried getting the best drive that I could. I messed up a little bit, but I kept it pinned. I was staying behind him for as long as I could before getting out of the draft. I pulled out and I could just tell that it wasn’t enough. He beat me by 0.016 hundredths of a second. This was by far the most fun in a race I’ve ever had.

MRA Race 2: Pikes Peak International Raceway

This weekend at MRA at PPIR, didn’t goes as expected. I entered the Friday track day with no experience. I left the Friday track day with 6 sessions under my belt. But we were expecting rain on both Saturday and Sunday. I ended up not being able to race the start of Saturday due to rain but was able to race my last race and I won!

The next day it rained all morning so I didn’t go out for practice, again. My race was the last race of the day so I was waiting around the whole day. Once my race came around I had a good start and was in the lead until my 5th lap. I was going into turn 6, I held my brake too hard on the side of the tire and tucked the front. It was my mistake and I will work on it and improve for the next round!

MRA Round 1: High Plains Raceway

Juliana had an amazing time racing on the big track for the 1st time. She felt fantastic and placed 5th in the lightweight GP class and 3rd in the Lightweight 2X class.

My first Round 1 is in the books! I had a great time racing the full course at HPR. My bike was running smooth and I felt great! My first race was lightweight GP, I had a decent start but then got passed on the straightaway. When I caught up to the person in front of me I passed them and maintained a 5th place for the rest of the race. The next race was lightweight 2X, I had a good start. I had a little battle with one of the racers which was fun. After that, I was mostly by myself, I ended 3rd. My last race was formula Colorado. I got a great start and a good lead and got my first win!

I met so many great people around pits and had good conversation with the ones I already knew. I was able to hang out with a few of my sponsors and see some of them ride. It was a great weekend. I’m definitely looking forward to round 2!

2022 Season Results

In 2022, I decided to do the MotoAmerica Ohvale Mini Cup series again.  The plan was to just do the 160 class since I had my motorcycle from last year and Jayden’s 160 as a backup since he was doing the North American Talent Cup this year. The series had changed the 190-class motorcycle from the Ohvale 190 to the Ohvale GP2.  We didn’t own a GP2 and didn’t want to get a new one, so we decided to skip the class. When we showed up to the 1st race of the season, there were several riders signed up for the 160 class but only 4 signed up for the GP2 190 class.  So, my dad spoke to some friends, and we decided to rent a GP2 from one and I started that class on the 2nd race!  And so did several others, we all had the same idea!

I had a great time seeing and racing with my friends again, it is always a good time.  I had a few ups and downs, several challenges and learning moments but in the end, I really had a great time.  I just enjoy being at the track, hanging in the pits with family and friends, visiting with people stopping by the pits and walking around meeting others. Oh, and of course, racing motorcycles!

I finished overall 5th in the Ohvale GP2 class and I finished overall 10th in the Ohvale 160 class! I am growing and learning in the sport and I cannot wait to see what next year will bring.  I hope it’s time for big bikes!

I had so much fun riding my Ohvale 160 this year. I am very comfortable on this bike and I can go really fast! Middle Picture: This is my 1st time to podium in the GP2 class on my Ohvale GP2. I'll take that and hope for many more to come!
My friend, Jake Gagne congratulates me on a 1st time podium at Pittsburgh International Race Complex.
Our friends from Fresh N Lean, Attack Yamaha Racing, Jake Gagne and Cam Peterson stop by our pits to say hello.
My friends Jesse James Shedden and Kensei Matsudaira show me pointers on the track map.

Training, Coaching, Riding with Toni Elias

I was so excited to have Toni Elias come out and train my brother and me. I was nervous at first but he was so down to earth and nice I got to feeling comfortable in no time. We had a great few days together riding at a few different tracks. We got to ride on the big track at high speeds and a small track on my Ohvale. He taught me a lot about my confidence and my riding and I hope I get to ride and have him as my coach again soon.
